About Therapy

279173090Change is possible through therapy.

You have choices if you want to change your life and the power to accomplish those changes.

As a therapist who has witnessed those changes in clients, I firmly believe in making changes. Even though life has dealt you a lot, you can change and improve it.

People use therapy to change their family, marriage, job, and social lives. Stress is a factor that prompts people to seek changes, and I have helped clients deal with all types of stress.

Therapy is about YOU; you must choose what we need to address. This is your life, and you are in control throughout the process. I will be by your side, showing you ways to make the changes you want and need. It’s time to take control and let outside control go.

Therapy must be tailored to individual needs.

Each person’s story is unique. I tailor my approach to fit each client’s needs, goals, and strengths. Whether you’re looking to process difficult emotions, improve your relationships, or gain clarity and direction, I’m here to support you every step of the way.

Our work is confidential and occurs in a safe, affirming space free from judgment. Here, you get to have your say while experiencing compassionate counseling.

For your convenience, I offer two flexible options. We can meet in person, or if you prefer meeting outside the office and in your own space, I also offer telehealth.

My approach utilizes evidence-based modalities, including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Dialectal Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, and more. I can better meet your specific needs by selecting therapeutic tools.

About Andrea Bates, LPC-Associate

About AndreaMy journey led me to become a counselor.

Life is tough, and sometimes you need help learning about yourself and what you truly want out of life. I, too, needed that help and found, through the support of a counselor, that I could recognize my strengths and learn skills to help me better process my experiences and get what I wanted and needed from life. I also learned how to get through things that are out of my control and to control what I can.

My counseling journey started at a center, and I later decided it was time to take the next step. After completing 1.5 years of helping people with my internship, I have been counseling for 1.5 years as an associate under the supervision of Darrell R. Smith (LPC-S).

I love that I opened my practice in a rural area and provide counseling in a small community, yet I am located for easy access to other communities.

Therapy is a collaborative journey. You are the expert on your life – I’m here to walk beside you, offering support, insight, and tools to help you grow and heal. My role is not to fix, but to empower. In our work together, we’ll create a safe and supportive space where you can feel heard, seen, and valued.

When I’m not in the office, I like to play golf and be at the lake with my family. Spending time with family and friends at my lake house is my favorite thing to do with my down time. I also like to travel and see how people live in different states and countries as I learn their history.
